Tungabhadra Souharda Sahakari Ltd., Sindhanur

At the time when the Souharda Act was implemented in Karnataka, cooperatives were few in number. People from economically backward and underprivileged communities faced immense difficulty in securing loans. They were often forced to approach the wealthy or capitalists, explaining their hardships, and borrowing money from them. When they were unable to repay the loan on time or failed to repay it, they were subjected to exploitation and further hardships.
